 Dubai Vehicle Inspection 🚗 Full RTA Annual Inspection Process ✔️

The whole update process is super fast, completed in about 20 minutes, and we can even managed to use the restroom.

  

👉🏻 The process is as follows:

  1. Book the vehicle inspection

Before your vehicle registration expires, Dubai RTA will send an email reminder with a link to book, or you can use the RTA app to book your preferred Tasjeel center. (You can also change the time on the same day after booking)

  2. Buy car insurance

You can buy it in advance or on-site at Tasjeel. I bought mine in advance on Insurance Market, got full coverage plus 12 free car washes, and received the policy immediately.

Some say you can choose the insurance start date to be the day after the old insurance expires. I asked a white-robed staff and was told no‼️

✅ Correct approach: The insurance start date must be the day you go for the update. Dubai insurance lasts 13 months. 👀 For example, my insurance expires on the 26th of next month, but if I go for inspection and update today, the new insurance start date must be today.

  3. Go for the vehicle inspection

Arrive at the inspection site (photo 2), queue inside the car, when it's almost your turn, get out and go to the small booth nearby (photo 3) to report your booking number, they will give you a token. Leave your car keys inside the car, just leave the car there without turning off the engine.

  4. Pay in the hall

Take the token they just gave you to the service hall next door (photo 4), wait for your number to be called, then go to the corresponding window - 170 AED. Then return to your seat (photo 5), wait for the inspection report to see if you passed. If passed, proceed to the next step; if not, repair and re-inspect. The inspection report link will be sent to your phone via SMS in about five minutes.

  5. Update and make the vehicle registration card

There is a blue machine in the hall (photo 7), follow the prompts - 370 AED, wait 50 seconds and the new card is ready to take.

  6. Pick up your car and leave

Return to the inspection site, get your car keys back, and you can leave.
